In partnership with CFI Education and Children for Change, ExtraFood is presenting Just Eat It, an award-winning, 75-minute documentary film on food waste and food recovery.

Filmmakers and food lovers Jen Rustemeyer and Grant Baldwin dive into the issue of food waste from farm through retail—and into their own fridge. After learning about the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away. But as Grant’s addictive personality turns full tilt towards food rescue, the “thrill of the find” has unexpected consequences. Just Eat It brings farmers, retailers, activists, industry experts, and consumers to the table to explore our systemic obsession with expiration dates, perfect produce, and portion sizes, and reveal the core of this often overlooked issue that is having devastating consequences around the globe.

A 30-minute panel discussion features 5 Marinites who are helping to solve the food waste problem in Marin and who will identify ways you can help:

Sunday, Jan. 27, 4:15pm, at the beautiful Smith Rafael Film Center in downtown San Rafael. Tickets are $11.75 for adults and $8.50 for kids. Get your tickets here while they last!
