“Just Eat It” Film and Panel Event - Photos

The Sausalito Film Series' October 30th event benefiting ExtraFood, featuring the award-winning film "Just Eat It", was a rousing success!
The Film Series and Cavallo Point held a fabulous pre-show reception in a spectacular setting. ExtraFood volunteers celebrated ExtraFood's 10,000th food delivery, and everyone enjoyed the terrific appetizers, beer and wine provided by the Film Series and sponsors.
Then, the film: Just Eat It chronicles 6 months in the life of filmmakers Jen and Grant, who vow to live off discarded food -- and do! Although the vast quantities of perfectly good food they discover was shocking, the film also gives inspiring examples of food recovery -- keeping unused, safe, edible food out of the landfill and getting it to those in need. And it does an excellent job of educating viewers on key reasons for pervasive food waste, including misinterpretation of date labels on food.
The lively post-film panel discussion, moderated by longtime Marin environmentalist Doug McConnell of Bay Area Backroads and OpenRoad fame, included Congressman Jared Huffman (co-sponsor of the Food Recovery Act now under consideration in the House), Just Eat It star Dana Gunders of the Natural Resources Defense Council, and ExtraFood Founder Marv Zauderer.
