Food Recovery in Marin County: By picking up excess fresh food from businesses and immediately delivering it to nonprofits serving Marin’s most vulnerable children, adults, and families, we address the critical issues of hunger, wasted food, and global warming.

We've delivered more than 2,079,870 pounds of food to 108 sites serving thousands and we've kept 170,909 pounds of methane from warming our planet.

Wise Sons Bagelry

An offshoot of San Francisco’s well-known Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen and located in the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, Wise Sons began calling in donations of their extra bagels to us last fall. They recently increased their donation frequency to five days a week. We are thrilled to include Wise Sons on our growing list of “regular” food donors that provide food donations every week. Our recipient partners are equally excited and are always happy to receive their Wise Sons deliveries.

Ria V.

An ExtraFood volunteer for nearly two years, Ria knows Noah’s. The “regular” volunteer on our twice-weekly Novato Noah’s Bagels food trips, she has been integral in helping us secure and maintain our donation pickups at this location. We can always count on Ria to keep us informed of all the goings-on at Noah’s, from holiday closures to changes in contact information. We are truly grateful to Ria for her commitment to being a dedicated and reliable link between ExtraFood and our friends at Noah’s in Novato.

St. Stephens Episcopal Church

As part of their community outreach program, St. Stephens participates in the REST program (Rotating Emergency Shelter Team), providing monthly dinners for the hungry from November to April. They also prepare weekly hot lunches for the homeless year-round and run a week-long summer day camp, during which kids from diverse backgrounds and cultures from Marin City and the Canal are taught by professional art educators from local public and private schools. We are honored to help the church in their mission by delivering prepared food donations from The Cheesecake Factory and baked goods and pizzas from Arizmendi Bakery several times a month, as well as additional food donations to support the kids participating in their summer day camp.
