Food Recovery in Marin County: By rescuing excess fresh food from businesses and immediately delivering it to nonprofits serving Marin’s most vulnerable children, adults, and families, we address the critical issues of hunger, wasted food, and climate change.

We've delivered 3,065,237 pounds of food to 122 sites in Marin, keeping 251,923 pounds of methane from warming our planet & reaching 8,000 people every month.

Community Spotlight

The MAGC Garden School

The MAGC Garden School is located in the beautiful surroundings and natural world of the Marin Art and Garden Center. Their curriculum is designed to address the developmental needs of children aged 3-5 years and promotes the development of the child through exploration of the arts and the environment while fostering learning and appreciation for the natural world. Recently, we picked up a donation of nonperishable kid-friendly items, which we rarely get and so often get requests for!

Marv L.

Marv has been a loyal, core member of our volunteer team for 5+ years and we are SO grateful! Last week he became one of the very few volunteers who has completed 600 food trips—he has rescued 20 tons of food! Marv regularly picks up donations from Nugget Markets & Marin General Hospital and delivers to grateful recipients. Our partners love his consistency and reliability—they really miss him when he is out of town! We salute Marv’s dedication to our cause, our partners and the people we’re serving together. He’s a shining example of an amazing ambassador for ExtraFood in the community.

The Hilarita Apartments

EAH Housing’s Hilarita Apartments in Tiburon provides 102 units of affordable housing for low-income families and the elderly. We are proud to support their residents with weekly fresh produce, dairy products and baked goods donations from our food donors. This month we celebrate 3 years of delivering food to the Hilarita. What an excellent, long-term partnership!
