Food Recovery in Marin County: By rescuing excess fresh food from businesses and immediately delivering it to nonprofits serving Marin’s most vulnerable children, adults, and families, we address the critical issues of hunger, wasted food, and the climate crisis.

Community Meals Program Partners

Some food-service organizations don't have excess food to donate. ExtraFood's Community Meals program gives those organizations a simple yet impactful opportunity to work with us to help the hungry. Community Meals donors regularly make a dish for 10-20 people, eg. once per week, and we make sure it gets to people who need it the most. It's something that's convenient for our donors to make -- perhaps a little extra of something they're already making -- and we pick it up when it's convenient for them. Or, a donor gives us a special made-to-order donation for an event, such as our event serving Marin's Coast Guard families affected by the federal shutdown.

If you're in a food-service business and you'd like more information about the program, please email our Manager of Food Donor & Recipient Relations, Kathy Carver, or call her at 415.720.4030.

The following organizations participate in ExtraFood's Community Meals program and have given more than 20,000 meals thus far for people in need. Please help us thank them for their kindness by eating at their establishments and spreading the word about their generosity.
