365 days a year ExtraFood delivers fresh, surplus food—like fruits, vegetables, dairy, and prepared meals—to community partners across Marin, San Francisco and Sonoma Valley. These partners distribute food directly to individuals and families through pantries, meal programs, and neighborhood hubs.
We deliver fresh surplus food to hundreds of food pantries in the Bay Area every day. For individuals that need food, please visit the resource page at the San Francisco Marin Food Bank for a food pantry locator by zip code. We work alongside the food bank to build a stronger, more connected community by ensuring no one goes hungry.
A few simple habits can help your groceries stay fresh longer, stretch further, and save money. You don’t need complicated recipes—just practical tips that work in real life.
Some foods show up often in pantries but may not be familiar. Here are easy ways to use them:
Plus:
At a recent community cooking class, participants learned how to turn everyday pantry vegetables into homemade pickles using ingredients like carrots, cauliflower, onions, and more.
For many, it was their first time working with some of these foods. By the end, everyone left with new skills, fresh ideas, and the confidence to turn unfamiliar ingredients into something delicious.
New ideas. Less waste. More meals you feel good about.

"I appreciate the opportunity to share with you what ExtraFood enables Park Mkt. to provide for the residents of MVMCC ( appx. 350 seniors ). There are quite a few low income families living here and they constantly mention what a difference the program means to them. We provide several home bags Saturday and Monday for the residents that are no longer able to get out and shop. We have a very dedicated group of residents that never miss the Farmers Market Sunday donations. As the residents gather to wait for the weekly donations they have created quite a lively fun atmosphere sitting and visiting on the bench that is in the breezeway twelve months out of the year, rain or shine. I have a very large white board in the breezeway where the days and stores and approximate delivery times are posted. We have created a strong sense of community around this amazing event that happens four times a week, the gift of free food is never taken for granted, is deeply appreciated and valued beyond words.v"
