FOOD RECOVERY

WE FILL THE GAP BETWEEN THOSE WHO HAVE FOOD AND THOSE WHO NEED IT

We recover excess fresh food from any Bay Area business, school, hospital, garden, or farm and immediately deliver the food to nonprofit distribution partners serving our community’s most vulnerable people.

300 food donors, 151 nonprofit distribution partners, and 750 volunteers thus far, all working together towards the same goals of ending hunger and wasted food in the Bay Area.

Types of food we recover:

Prepared food, fresh produce, dairy products, eggs, meat, packaged goods, baked goods

Who we recover food from:

Grocery stores, restaurants, schools, farmers’ markets, farms, caterers/events, bakeries, corporations, congregations, civic organizations, hospitals, backyards, and community gardens

Who we donate to:

Any nonprofit serving vulnerable people in our community, such as after-school programs, senior housing centers, homeless shelters, food pantries, treatment programs.

Surplus Food. Fresh Food. ExtraFood.

"Next Generation Scholars so appreciates the partnership with ExtraFood as the food provided is a true lifeline to our students and their families. Not having to worry about hunger allows our students to concentrate on their academic pursuits. We cannot thank you enough!"
