Imagine the daily worry of not knowing when your next meal will be or how to provide dinner for your children. Regrettably, this is the harsh reality faced by many in our community. ExtraFood is dedicated to finding solutions for those dealing with food insecurity.
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a generous grant of $62,500 from the Nourishing Neighbors Safeway Foundation. This grant will enable us to assist members of our community in accessing essential federal meal programs such as SNAP, WIC, and free or reduced school nutrition programs.
Thanks to our robust network of community organizations and our ability to connect with individuals at numerous locations throughout San Francisco and Marin, our dedicated staff and volunteers have unparalleled access to the most vulnerable individuals and families. This positions us as an ideal partner not only for delivering much-needed, fresh, and healthy food but also for providing crucial support, including informational materials and enrollment assistance for SNAP, CalFresh, and other government food assistance programs.
Through this extensive collaboration with our community partners, ExtraFood will produce and distribute informational resource materials at all of our partner sites, host volunteers to offer direct enrollment support for eligible individuals, and break down access barriers by bringing these resources directly to the places where food-insecure people live, work, and shop. We will bolster our partner sites' enrollment efforts by providing materials, volunteers, training, and facilitating connections with other organizations and government agencies that can offer assistance as needed.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nourishing Neighbors Safeway Foundation for their generous grant, which will enable us to make a significant impact in supporting our neighbors in need.
