We are proud to share this letter from Tina at Post Partum Support Center/Marin Diaper Bank. Our Food Recovery Driver, Cisco delivers food to the center from Grocery Outlet in Marin City, Target in San Rafael, even fruit gleaned through our backyard produce program, Share the Bounty.
Thanks to this partnership, moms and caregivers not only go home with essentials like diapers and formula from this truly amazing organization, they now have access to fresh produce and nutritious pantry staples, too.
"I just wanted to take a moment to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude for the incredible work ExtraFood is doing — and to share what a profound difference our new partnership has made for the families we serve at the Postpartum Support Center/Marin Diaper Bank.
About six months ago, I left my job as a nurse practitioner to dedicate myself full-time to this nonprofit, which I had previously supported as a volunteer. We provide free, accessible maternal mental health support and distribute diapers, wipes, clothing, formula, and other essentials to around 500 Marin families living in poverty every month.
Thanks to ExtraFood, we’ve recently been able to add a little food pantry stocked with non-perishables that families can take home when they visit the diaper bank. It’s been such a meaningful and practical addition to what we offer. Even more impactful, we’re now also able to provide beautiful fresh produce and other perishable staples to a group of families going through especially difficult times.
Being able to hand them a few bags of nourishing, healthy food and lift a very small amount of weight off of her shoulders has become one of my very favorite parts of my job.
Please know that ExtraFood is making a tremendous impact on the families that we serve and has inspired me and my team in many ways."
