Recipient Spotlight:

Corpus Christi Food Distribution (CCFD) is led by the one and only Luanne, who somehow manages to organize hundreds of food boxes while cracking jokes the entire time. CCFD started in July 2024 with a small but mighty group of volunteers who wanted to make sure families in their church and surrounding neighborhood had reliable access to good food. They partner with ExtraFood and Peninsula Food Runners and receive donations from local markets and bakeries. Each week they turn rescued groceries and prepared meals into well balanced boxes filled with produce, pantry staples, bread, and sometimes a sweet treat for nearly 220 families.

There is no registration and no red tape. If you show up and there is food, you are welcomed with dignity and a smile. The team serves many hardworking families in the area, including a large Latino community, and they do it all without a formal budget. Volunteers chip in for supplies, reuse boxes, compost what they can, and keep the hall spotless. Some weekends are abundant and some are lean, but Luanne and her crew always make it work. We are so grateful for their heart, humor, and hustle.
