The Cross Cultural Center SF started to receive ExtraFood donations this year, and has already become a fan favorite among our volunteers. The Cross Cultural Center provides wrap-around community based social services for families, helping to ensure a child’s developmental success.
With ExtraFood donations, CCCSF was able to expand their services to include hot meals and small grocery items delivered to families facing food insecurity. At the heart of their successful food program is Bushra, the Family Engagement Manager. Bushra receives trays of our recovered food and grocery donation, breaks them down into complete meals or grocery bags, and personally distributes them to client families.
Bushra says, ExtraFood is “such a joy. It does make a difference! We love our ExtraFood volunteers, they are so communicative and they so clearly care. So many families love ExtraFood. They are so grateful for groceries, meals or bread – they really can cut down on costs of groceries because of it.”
