Volunteer Spotlight: Ana J

March 23, 2026 /

Ana Jawerbaum, a volunteer since 2023 grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina where her mother instilled in her that food is to be respected and appreciated, a value that she still carries today. With two grown kids, and now retired, she saw ExtraFood as a great opportunity to give back.

Since joining, Ana has rescued 8,600lbs+, doing rescues all over Marin County. Ana is known to pick up last minute rescues big and small and has recently claimed a regular grocery rescue. On her rescues, she always appreciates exploring new places, donors, and recipients.

She always enjoys her kind interaction with the receiver at Mollie Stone’s Sausalito and loves delivering to Victory Village and Bennet House, two low income Senior Facilities in Fairfax, who are always patiently waiting for her donations with a smile. Ana does a great job of understanding the needs of her recipients and will share donations amongst them.

Mixing in her lifestyle with food rescue, she plays tennis in the morning and will go out for regular or spontaneous rescues in the afternoon, and on occasion her husband will tag along on weekends. Thank you Ana for all the help ensuring food gets to our community and does not end up wasted!
