ExtraFood Honored as Reader’s Choice Award Winner for Supporting Food-Insecure Neighbors
We are proud and grateful to share that ExtraFood has been named a Reader’s Choice Honor winner for Best Assistance for Food Insecure (Nonprofit) by the readers of the Marin Independent Journal.
This recognition means so much because it comes directly from our community. Every vote reflects a shared belief that good food should never go to waste when neighbors are struggling to put meals on the table. It affirms the power of local action, and the compassion that defines our region.
At ExtraFood, we rescue fresh, surplus food from farms, markets, grocers, and prepared food partners and deliver it the same day to organizations serving people facing food insecurity. What would otherwise be discarded becomes nourishment for families, older adults, and individuals across our community. This work not only helps feed thousands of people each week, it also prevents food waste and reduces environmental impact.
We share this honor with the people who make that work possible:
Your commitment turns surplus into sustenance and compassion into action.
Thank you to the readers of the Marin Independent Journal for this meaningful recognition — and for standing with us in the effort to feed more people and waste less food. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community.
